On Photons, waves, and Helium

At what point, and under what conditions does light behave as a wave, or a particle? Does quantum reality suggest that the state of energy is dependent on the context in which it is viewed?

Does low-calorie really equate to low-fat, and vise versa?

Why doesn't the wick of a candle burn right to the bottom in a couple of seconds?

Is helium or hydrogen a better medium for lift in balloons?

Is incadescent or fluorescent preferrable in the workplace?

In other words, there will be light blogging for the next few days, as I head out "TAD" (Jarhead speak for "business trip"). Not sure if I'll be able to post.
